Why Radio?
Well firstly, thank you for giving me my first ever interview, like I’m always the one asking questions, so it feels good to be on the other hand. So why Radio? Well because I get to talk, play the latest songs, work three hours and it’s the quickest way to meet famous people. (laughs) I’m joking, now although there’s some truth in that but it’s like asking a mother why they love their kids, absolutely no reason.

Which radio stations have you worked for?

Don’t get me wrong but hey, I’ve beeen around hey (laughs). I started at Radio DUT then it was Vibe FM then it was Durban Youth Radio, I had an entanglement with East Coast Radio, like we had a brief thing but it didn’t work out (laughs) but now I’m at INanda FM and although we really are into each other, I can tell it won’t last. My boss will understand this and S/O to INanda FM once again siyphethe iVibe! 🔥🔥

Besides radio, what other projects are you currently busy or involved with?

I’m currently learning how to walk again since I’m fresh out of labour ward. My life depends on this project.

Who is your South African radio icon?

I wouldn’t say Radio Icon, I feel that’s exaggerated but one person who I’d say introduced me to Radio was Mr Magic, Linda Sibiya. That breakfast show was the one, it’s not an excuse but that’s the show that made me late in the morning and not to be lowkey about it but I also attended high school with Linda Sibiya's son and I wanted to date him so bad but now, looking back at my high school self (sighs), I don’t blame him. Fast forward into the now, two Radio Giants that I really look up to are DJ Sphectacular and Felix Hlophe and to think they are both from EMlazi. I’m next.

What can we expect from you in the next Five years?

With Covid 19 playing the role of a hitman, I really don’t know hey but the name Penny Ntuli will be a household name for sure. Copyrights Reserved.

How often do you listen to other radio stations and which radio station do you usually listens to?

I listen to all kinds of Radio Stations from Community to Commercial and since I’m already a Radio presenter, listening to radio has somewhat become annoying because now I notice every little glitch on any show. Like my heart skips a bit when I catch a dead air on a commercial radio station so I don’t want to stress myself out. Also I’m not trying to get fired, I love INanda FM but one Radio Station I always listen to is “the sound of the city” , I’ve got to listen to my colleagues you know. Ngil’thandani!

What has working on radio has taught you?

Like by now I thought it would have taught me or I would have at least learnt to be on time but I’m always just Michael Schumachering myself to work but besides time it has taught me to be careful of what I say.

What advice can you give to aspiring radio broadcasters?

Lol what do you mean? I’m also still aspiring (laughs) . On a serious note though, If you’re in it for the money, please leave while it’s still early. It’s nothing like we post it out to be!
